At NAMM 2025, Greek pedal brand Crazy Tube Circuits introduced the Venus overdrive, a real tube overdrive inspired by all the pedal and rack versions of the Butler Tube Driver.  With its three-way EQ section and Bias control, this is a pedal that can produce a wide range of tones.

Inspired by one of the greatest masterpieces of the pedal museum, Crazy Tube Circuits set out to recreate a classic tube tone sculpture with modern refinements. They concentrated all the different voicings of the classic tube-powered overdrive variations throughout the 80s and 90s, along with some mods and features of the rack mount variants, in a compact enclosure with less than half the size of the original pedal unit.

Instead of an internal power transformer we chose to power the device from a standard 9V DC power supply to reduce background noise and hum and designed a voltage multiplier circuit to provide the needed voltage range of +/- 15V DC.

While the classic unit featured an ECC83 dual triode, many users preferred a lower gain/higher headroom alternative like ECC82/12AU7. For the rework of the masterpiece CTC opted for an ECC832 dual triode tube which is half an ECC83 and half an ECC82 for optimum performance and the best of both worlds.

FULL FEATURE LIST:
- Real Tube Overdrive inspired by all pedal and rack versions of BK Butler Tube Driver.
- Small enclosure – less than half the size of the classic tube drive units.
- ECC832 tube included (consists of half an ECC83 and half an ECC82) for optimum performance. ECC83/12AX7, 5751, ECC81/12AT7, 6072/12AY7, ECC82/12AU7 can be used as well in place of the ECC832.

Controls:

Drive: control the amount of tube drive/saturation and sustain. From light tube overdrive (counter-clockwise) to fuzzy distortion (clockwise).

Bias (1): set the tube cathode bias/control the current passing through the tube cathodes.

Adjust this knob to find the sweet spot for different tube types used and/or set the texture of the overdrive: from gnarly, nasty and gated (counter-clockwise) to smooth and creamy (clockwise).

Volume (2): set the output level of the effect.

Hi: adjust the amount of high frequencies, increasing as turned clockwise.

Mid: adjust the amount of mid frequencies/sweep through the different voicings of the classic tube-powered overdrive varia- tions throughout the 80s and 90s.

Lo: adjust the amount of low frequencies, increasing as turned clockwise.

Tight push switch: pre-set the amount of low and low-mid frequencies that hit the tube gain stages, select between fat or tight sound (when pushed in) – inspired by the "contour" knob of the rack mount version.

Line Driver Push Switch (3): select between the unbuffered instrument level output of the pedal version or the buffered line level output of the rack mount unit (when pushed in).

FOOTSWITCH: engage or true bypass the effect via a high quality relay.

POWER-UP BYPASS STATE PRESET: On power-up the LED will blink and then go in bypass mode by default. Hold the footswitch during power-up to change the default function to engaged (on state). Repeat the procedure above to restore the previous setting. This function comes in especially handy to people that use remote pedal switchers/loopers as they only set the state of the pedal once and then operate from the controller.

Connections:

↓↑: mono instrument jack input/output.

Power supply (4): 9V DC center negative, regulated/stabilized. Isolated power supply is recommended for best performance. Max current consumption 400mA.

They designed Venus with an ECC832 dual triode tube for optimum performance but you can replace it with any standard dual triode like ECC83/12AX7, 5751, ECC81/12AT7, 6072/12AY7, ECC82/12AU7

Baking soda never works out well
Flavor Name: 1. Sensitive Mint, Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I don't know why I decided to chance it but it didn't take long for my teeth to start aching. I realized baking soda might be the cause of my toothache issues when I switched between a few and realized the baking soda ones were accompanied by aching. I think I went with this because it claims to be for sensitivity and I thought the nhap would help whatever the baking soda affected but not the case. If you have tooth ache, consider it might actually be the toothpaste and don't just go looking for "sensitive" labels. This might work in combination with other toothpaste. I.e. not multiple times a day but once a day and a different one for other brushing. I've noticed not being as able to tell when it's been a while since I brushed. This was the main change so it might be effective at cleaning. The tube is metal and hard to press but the paste consistency is less firm than others so it works out. It didn't take much to get the paste out. It gives a light foam. The taste is not sweet. It's tolerable but borders on bad.

Good for exfoliating
Color: Beige (4 Packs)
These are great for saving and using soap slivers. I can't stand to throw out something useful but once they get too small they're hard to hold onto. I had a mesh bag but it started to come apart and I thought these would hold up better. These bags are thick and sturdy. They're a little stiff at first but softened up quickly. They're great for exfoliating. The only change I would like to see is the wood closing bead changed to a locking clip as it slides open all the time.

Great product!
Color: Beige (8 Packs)
I buy handmade soap from a local soap maker, but I’ve always had trouble with it lasting—if I leave it in a soap dish, it never dries properly and melts away too quickly. I used to use loofah socks, but they were frustrating: the knots wouldn’t stay tied and they tore apart easily. I decided to give these a try, and I’m impressed! I had a couple of concerns going in. First, I wasn’t sure they’d fit the larger-sized handmade bars I use—but they do! It’s a snug fit at first, which can make lathering a bit tricky, but after one or two uses it softens up and starts to lather beautifully—honestly, better than the mesh loofahs I’ve used. The design is thoughtful: the knot stays secure, and the bead keeps the soap from slipping out—both huge improvements over other products I’ve tried. The biggest surprise? The exfoliation. It’s effective without being harsh, even on sensitive areas. My skin felt softer than it ever did with sugar or salt scrubs. That’s an unexpected bonus I didn’t even realize I needed! Highly recommend—especially if you’re using handmade or natural soaps and want to make them last longer.

Fantastic purchase completely happy
Color: Beige (4 Packs)
Awesome soap bag the construction is very sturdy and allows for good lathering and I would definitely purchase them again. It also helps with exfoliating so you’re getting two birds with one stone.

Great product for the price, would buy again!
Color: Beige (4 Packs)
Great bags. There is a ball to pull the top right but it slides back open so I just tied a knot in it but idk how I'll get it out to put more soap in. Otherwise a great product! Glad I bought them! Color is neutral, lather is good, very durable, easy to use, could be a little rougher (in my opinion) it's on the soft side, functions great besides top coming open, very durable!
